NFL Betting Preview SBG Global Opening Line: Cardinals - 11 , Total 49 The NFC West takes the spotlight on Monday Night Football this week as the Arizona Cardinals host the San Francisco 49ers. The Cardinals have done their part this season going 5-3 but the 49ers have not, going 2-6. The Cardinals are the only team in the NFC West with a winning record and they are heavily favored on Monday to notch another victory. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Cardinals at Home. The Cardinals have an explosive offense led by quarterback Kurt Warner and a plethora of weapons including Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzergald and rookie running back Tim Hightower. “We’re excited about where we are as a team,” head coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “We realize that we have a chance. But we also understand that last year at this time there were teams that were 6-2 that didn’t even sniff the playoffs. I think taking that approach is going to keep us grounded. … We’ve got only half the season behind us.” The 49ers have struggled all season but at least they are entertaining again thanks to interim head coach Mike Singletary. He has made it clear to his team that things must change. One of his first changes was to bench tight end Vernon Davis and he will make another change this week starting Shaun Hill at quarterback. The 49ers will have to score on Monday to have a chance since the Cardinals are leading the NFL in scoring at 29.3 points per game. Here are the NFL betting stats for Monday’s game. The 49ers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. the NFC West. The 49ers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday games. The 49ers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games. The 49ers are 1-6 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The 49ers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on grass. The 49ers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The 49ers are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings between the two teams but the underdog in this series is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the road team is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings. SBG Global Current Line: Cardinals - 11 , Total 49 The Cardinals are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Cardinals are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games. The Cardinals are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 vs. NFC West. The Cardinals are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in November. The Under is 7-1 in the 49ers last 8 games in November. The Under is 10-4 in the 49ers last 14 vs. the NFC West. The Over is 5-0 in the Cardinals last 5 home games. The Over is 22-8 in the Cardinals last 30 games overall. NFL Preseason Betting Preview SBG Global Opening Line: Bears - 5 , Total 35 The Chicago Bears will start Kyle Orton at quarterback this season and his first test as the main man comes in Thursday’s preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. Orton won the job over Rex Grossman, although neither player was overwhelming in their play this preseason. Orton is 12-6 as a starting quarterback for the Bears in his three seasons. “To come to a decision like that, we’ve taken a lot of things into consideration—last year, how we finished the season, OTAs, training camp, preseason games,” head coach Lovie Smith said. “In the end it comes down to a gut feeling that you have, and I feel good about Kyle leading our team.” Chicago will get a long look at their new starting quarterback on Thursday as the Bears are expected to play their starters into the third quarter. “I think I’ve continued to get better in the preseason, so this will be another step to take.” Orton said, “We’ll get a lot more playing time this week and just try to get ready for Indianapolis (season opener).” Orton was just barely better than Grossman in the first two preseason games. His quarterback rating was 63.2 compared to Grossman’s 56.5. Those numbers tell you how poorly the quarterbacks in Chicago really have been in recent seasons. SBG Global Current Line: Bears - 3 , Total 37 While the Bears have settled on a starting quarterback heading into Thursday’s game, the 49ers have not. Head coach Mike Nolan said that all three quarterbacks will get a similar amount of playing time on Thursday with J.T. O’Sullivan starting followed by Alex Smith and Shaun Hill. “The quarterback rotation will be the same for Chicago on Thursday. We have a short week to prepare, and I want to keep the team focused on the Bears,” said Nolan. “The starters will most likely play the first half, with the second unit coming in during the third quarter.” NFL betting stats show that the two teams have met in preseason action the last three years with the Bears winning two of the three games including both home games. Two of the three games went over the total. The teams have met four times since 2001 in regular season play with Chicago winning four of the five matchups.
