NCAA Betting Preview
No. 15 Kansas Jayhawks (23-5) at No. 8 Missouri Tigers (24-4)
Sunday, 2:00PM Eastern

Bookmaker.com betting line -

The battle in the Big 12 is shaping out to be a dandy of a race. The Oklahoma Sooners appeared to be the dominant team in the conference before losing their last two straight games probably caused by the loss of superstar Blake Griffin. The No. 15 Kansas Jayhawks now sit on top of the standings in the conference one game ahead of both Oklahoma and Missouri. The no. 8 Missouri Tigers have kind of quietly sneaked into the picture and are putting together a great season. Missouri has a tough back to back scenario as they host Kansas and then will take the road to play Oklahoma in two games that will determine how the Big 12 regular season title shapes out. The Tigers could get everyone back to two losses in the conference if they could come up with a big win at home against Kansas on Sunday.

Kansas lost to the Tigers earlier this season in a close exciting game 62-60. The loss was the only ugly mark on the Jayhawks schedule over the past two months as they have won 12 of their last 13 games. Kansas could control their own destiny with a win over Missouri on Sunday considering they own the head to head battle with Oklahoma. Kansas could get some revenge from their earlier meeting with Missouri this season and put a strangle hold on the conference all in one showing this Sunday. The Jayhawks are averaging 77.4 points per game on the season led by junior guard Sherron Collins. Collins ranks 4th individually in the Big 12 scoring 18.3 points per game and is coming fresh off a big 26 point performance in the Jayhawks win over Oklahoma. Amazingly, Kansas out rebounded Missouri 42-26 in the last meeting despite the losing effort and they simply need more scorers to step forward this Sunday.

Missouri has one of the most potent offenses in the country. The Tigers rank 5th in scoring offense averaging 82.6 points per game on the season. Missouri is led by two seniors at the forward position on the inside. Leo Lyons and DeMarre Carroll lead the Tigers posting double figure averages. Lyons has posted 14.3 points per game this season while Carroll is averaging 17.1 points per game. The two standouts are also posting 7 rebounds each per night and they will need to be strong against the glass Sunday. In the last meeting, Missouri speedy defense posted a lot of problems for Kansas. The Tigers posted an outstanding 26 turnovers in the game while recording 14 steals in the contest. The Missouri aggressive defense will need a similar performance this Sunday if they want to continue to surprise people in the conference and around the nation.

What to watch for…

Keep you eye on the glass game. Both teams shot very poorly in their last meeting. However Kansas completely dominated the boards, but simply could not make any shots. Look for things to be a bit different this time and bank on Kansas knocking down a few more shots compared to the 41% shooting from the floor and 2-15 (15%) shooting from behind the arc in the last meeting.

Pick – Kansas

College Football Betting Preview
Texas Tech (7-0) at Kansas (5-2)
Saturday, 12:00 pm Eastern – ESPN

SBG Global Opening Line: Texas Tech  -  1.5  ,  Total  65.5

Texas Tech is off to their best start in more than 30 years but many people believe it is more due to their schedule than to their talent.  The Red Raiders will get a chance to prove those people wrong, beginning on Saturday as they travel to face #19 Kansas.  Texas Tech is ranked 8th in the country and after facing Kansas will play Texas, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.  That is a gauntlet no team would want to face. SBG Global reports that early College Football betting has the public taking Texas Tech on the Road.

“We understand that our best is good enough to beat everyone in the country, but the kicker is making sure that our best is what’s out there every Saturday,” offensive lineman Rylan Reed said. “We’ve got the talent, the experience, the coaching. We’ve got everything in place that we need to be in place. Now it’s just going out there and getting it done.”  Texas Tech has won 9 of the 10 matchups all-time against Kansas.

The Jayhawks are coming off a loss to Oklahoma last week even though they scored 31 points. “A loss is always disappointing, regardless of how it happens,” safety Darrell Stuckey said. “We just have to be optimistic about it and realize that … we are going to be able to learn (from it). You learn more from a loss than you do from a win.”

SBG Global Current Line: Texas Tech  -  PK ,  Total  65.5

Here are the College Football betting stats for Saturday’s game. The Red Raiders are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games on turf. The Red Raiders are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in October. The underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between the two teams.

College Football Betting Preview
Kansas (5-1) at Oklahoma (5-1)
Saturday, 3:30 pm Eastern – ABC

SBG Global Opening Line: Oklahoma  -  18  ,  Total  60.5

A matchup of Top 20 teams is on tap for Saturday as #4 Oklahoma hosts #16 Kansas.  The Sooners are coming off an emotional loss last week to Texas so they will have to refocus for a very talented Kansas squad.  The Sooners only dropped to #4 in the polls so they are still very much in the National title picture. “It’s always disappointing to invest so much and you end up losing,” Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said. “But in the end, I think everyone realizes, if you watch everyone else play, it isn’t that easy to go undefeated at all.” SBG Global reports that early College Football betting has the public taking Oklahoma at Home.

The Jayhawks will try and slow down an Oklahoma offense that ranks sixth in the country with 522.5 yards per game. Quarterback Sam Bradford has thrown for 2,052 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions.  Saturday’s game could be high scoring considering the Oklahoma defense is coming off a game in which they allowed 438 yards.  They also lost leading tackler Ryan Reynolds for the season to a knee injury in the loss.  The Sooners defense will have to stop Kansas running back Jake Sharp who had 118 yards against Colorado last week.  Kansas also has talented quarterback Todd Reesing, who completed 27 of 34 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown last week.

Oklahoma has won four straight against Kansas and the last two games in Norman between the two teams.  Here are more College Football betting stats for Saturday’s game.  The Jayhawks are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games in October. The Jayhawks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Jayhawks are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 conference games. The Jayhawks are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The road team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between the two teams.

SBG Global Current Line: Oklahoma  -  19.5  ,  Total  60.5

The Sooners are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Sooners are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games. The Sooners are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in October.

The Under is 6-2 in the Jayhawks last 8 games overall. The Under is 5-2 in the Jayhawks last 7 games in October. The Over is 9-4 in the Jayhawks last 13 road games. The Over is 5-1 in the Sooners last 6 games overall. The Under is 14-5-1 in the Sooners last 20 conference games. The Over is 8-3-1 in the Sooners last 12 home games.

The NCAA Championship Game
By Raji, Moderator BangTheBook.com

The time is finally upon us. We have watched an entire season of college basketball. We watched great young freshmen make their mark in the game and great in conference play. We watched the great conference tournaments and feverishly filled out our brackets as the tournament seedings were announced. We watched those same brackets get shattered as great underdogs made the early run but when the dust settled, for the first time in history, all number one seeds made it to the final four in San Antonio Texas. The story lines have played out and the players and the coaches have been acknowledged of the best of the best but now it comes down to just two teams playing for the championship in college basketball.

Memphis

The first team to make the big game is Memphis. Memphis has held the number one spot most of the year in the national polls and won the conference tournament grabbing a number one seed for the NCAA tournament. Yet they were one of the first number one seeds that were predicted to make an early exit. No one outside of Tennessee thought this team had a shot to go this far, especially when they ran into Texas heading to the final four and the answered the call with a thumping of Texas. The critics still shunned it off and said there would be no way they would beat UCLA. After all UCLA had the experience and had been to the final four and were led by Kevin Love so there would be no way they could lose to Memphis but indeed they did. Memphis thumped the Bruins by double digits and Derrick Rose showed that he may be the best player on the court. The critics are quieter but still out there and Memphis has one more game to play.

Kansas

Kansas was the opposite of Memphis because they won all year and got respect for it. They came into the tournament as a number one seed and plenty of so called experts called on them to get this far. As they went through the teams to get this far they mopped the floor with lesser talent and it led up to a meeting with the North Carolina tarheels in the final four. The story lines were abundant as Roy Williams would be marching the opposing side line and had some history with Kansas. For sure this would be one of the better games of the year, but it wasn’t. The hype was over played and the teams took the court and North Carolina promptly fell behind big early. They started a valiant comeback but it was Brandon Rush for the Jayhawks that held on to the win and pulled away for a huge win for Kansas. Now they face Memphis and there is no more questions, no more doubting just one more game to play.

The Winner

This line has opened up at Kansas -1.5 and slipped to Memphis as a chalk in some places. The thing to know here is to look around as this line is jumping with the amount of action coming in on it. The winner of this game will have to play all facets of the game and be fundamentally sound. Coaching is a sweet edge but I just can’t get over the fact that Memphis can’t hit free throws. It has not hurt them so far but if this game is close it will. I like Kansas to win this game and win the NCAA Championship!

Brandon Rush leads the team with a 13.1 scoring average followed by Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers, both at 12.7 and Darnell Jackson at 11.2.

The North Carolina frontcourt has National Player of the Year winner Tyler Hansbrough leading the way.  He will score a lot of points and dominate inside.  Kansas will rotate players and try and throw bodies at him all night.  The backcourt matchup has Brandon Rush, Mario Chalmers, Sherron Collins, and Russell Robinson for Kansas against Carolina’s talented point guard Ty Lawson.  Wayne Ellington can also shoot the ball for Carolina and he could be a major factor on Saturday.
