Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars Pick and Preview

NFL Betting Preview
Indianapolis Colts (10-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars (5-9)
Thursday, 8:15 pm Eastern – NFL Network

SBG Global Opening Line: Colts -  6.5 ,  Total  44

The Indianapolis Colts can clinch their 7th straight post-season berth with a win on Thursday night at Jacksonville.  The Colts have not lost a game since late October, winning seven straight. “At 3-4, we knew what the problems were,” coach Tony Dungy said, “A lot of it was ourselves and our execution. That’s what we focused on, more so than pointing the finger at someone or figuring out who was to blame. A lot of that gets back to the players really listening to the coaches. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Colts on the Road.

The Jaguars won the first meeting between the two teams this season 23-21 but both teams look far different than they did back in September.  The Jaguars only motivation now will be to keep the Colts from clinching a playoff berth. “I’m sure they would like to knock us out,” Dungy said. “We haven’t really been in that situation, but when you are and you can’t get in, that’s the motivation, especially if it’s a division rival. I’m sure they’d like to keep us out of the playoffs, so I’m sure we’ll get their best.”  The Colts were not at their best last week against the winless Lions but still prevailed 31-21 as Dallas Clark had 142 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Here are the NFL betting stats for Thursday’s game. The Colts are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 Thursday games. The Colts are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games in December. The Colts are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite. The Colts are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the AFC South. The Colts are 2-5-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings between the two teams.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans Pick and Preview

NFL Betting Preview
Jacksonville Jaguars (4-7) at Houston Texans (4-7)
Monday, 8:35 pm Eastern – ESPN

SBG Global Opening Line: Texans -  3 ,  Total  48

ESPN has had a lot of luck on Monday nights this season with excellent matchups but that luck may have run out as two teams likely to miss the playoffs get together this Monday as Houston hosts Jacksonville.  The good news about this matchup for ESPN and for football fans is that it should be competitive. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Texans at Home.

The Jaguars have been one of the league’s biggest disappointments at 4-7 as their defense has been weak and their offense very inconsistent.  The Jaguars still have a solid running attack with Maurice Jones-Drew but their passing attack has been poor this season.  The Texans actually have the better offense, even with backup Sage Rosenfels running the show.  Rosenfels throws for a lot of yards each week, usually throws for a couple of touchdowns but he always makes mistakes.  He has thrown 9 interceptions this season and it is those mistakes that have prevented the Texans from having a winning record.

Here are the NFL betting stats for Monday’s game.  The Jaguars are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 games in Week 13. The Jaguars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in December. The Jaguars are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Monday games.

The Jaguars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the AFC South. The Jaguars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Jaguars are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games on grass. The underdog is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between the two teams. The Jaguars are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Houston.

The Texans are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in December. The Texans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.

SBG Global Current Line: Texans -  3 ,  Total  48

The Over is 6-1-1 in the Jaguars last 8 vs. a team with a losing record. The Over is 5-1-1 in the Jaguars last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. Jacksonville Jaguars at Denver Broncos Pick and Preview

NFL Betting Preview
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3) at Denver Broncos (4-1)
Sunday, 4:05 pm Eastern – CBS

SBG Global Opening Line: Broncos  -  3.5   ,  Total  48.5

The Denver Broncos will go for their seventh straight home win dating back to last season as they host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.  The Jaguars and Broncos have met six times in history with each team winning three times, although the Jaguars have won the last three meetings.  Last year the Jaguars won 23-14 against Denver and outrushed the Broncos 186-47 in the game.  Jacksonville will look to run the ball again on Sunday as Denver has the 25th ranked run defense in the NFL.  This season the Jaguars have struggled to run the ball though, after ranking 2nd in the NFL a year ago. “I think it’s more than anything lack of attempts,” head coach Jack Del Rio said.  The Jaguars are 19th in the NFL in rushing this season. The Jaguars may also look to pass against a Broncos defense that ranks 30th in the league in pass defense. “We have to try to take advantage of it because offensively you can see that they can score some points. We have to match that,” quarterback David Garrard said. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Broncos at Home.

Here are the NFL betting stats for Sunday’s game. The Jaguars are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Jaguars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Jaguars are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games on grass. The underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between the two teams.

The Broncos are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games on grass. The Broncos are 5-14-1 ATS in their last 20 vs. the AFC. The Broncos are 7-21-1 ATS in their last 29 games overall. The Broncos are 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 home games. The Broncos are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in October.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Jacksonville Jaguars Pick and Preview

NFL Betting Preview
Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2)
Sunday, 8:15 pm Eastern – NBC

SBG Global Opening Line: Jaguars  -  4   ,  Total 36.5

One of the best games on Sunday should be in Jacksonville as the Jaguars host the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The Jaguars have owned the Steelers lately, winning the last four meetings between the two teams including last year’s playoff game.  “We have some recent history with those guys,” Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin said this week. “They are a very good football team.”
SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Jaguars at Home.

Last year the Jaguars sacked Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger 11 times in the two games.  Roethlisberger has been sacked 15 times already this season, most in the AFC.  Last week the Steelers survived against Baltimore, winning 23-20 in overtime but lost rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall for the season with a fractured shoulder.  Running back Willie Parker has been out with a knee sprain. “Injuries always happen at a bad time,” Tomlin said. “They’re part of the game. I’m not going to complain about them and go `Woe is me.’”

Jacksonville escaped with an overtime win of their own last week as they won 30-27 against Houston.  Quarterback David Garrard had 236 yards passing and 41 yards rushing to lead the Jaguars.  Sunday night’s game could be low scoring considering the Steelers have the second ranked defense in the NFL.

Here are the NFL betting stats for Sunday’s game.  The Steelers are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games in Week 5. The Steelers are 22-8-1 ATS in their last 31 games in October. The Steelers are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall.

The Steelers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games on grass. The Steelers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 vs. the AFC. The Steelers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Steelers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Jacksonville but the underdog is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings between the two teams.

The Jaguars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in October. The Jaguars are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Jaguars are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. the AFC. The home team is 15-5 ATS in the last 20 meetings between the two teams.

The Over is 5-1 in the Steelers last 6 vs. the AFC. The Over is 6-2 in the Steelers last 8 games overall. The Under is 5-2 in the Steelers last 7 road games.

SBG Global Current Line: Jaguars  -  4   ,  Total  36

The Over is 9-2-2 in the Jaguars last 13 vs. the AFC. The Over is 4-1 in the Jaguars last 5 home games. The Over is 19-7-2 in the Jaguars last 28 games overall. The Under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings in Jacksonville between the two teams.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts Pick and Preview

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts
Sunday, 4:15 pm Eastern – CBS

SBG Global Opening Line: Colts  -  5   ,  Total  41.5

The two teams expected to battle for the AFC South title meet on Sunday at Indianapolis as the Colts host the Jacksonville Jaguars.  The Colts started slowly with Peyton Manning working his way back into form but have shown signs of life lately while Jacksonville has had all kinds of trouble early in the season.  The Colts still have trouble though, as their top defensive player Bob Sanders is out for at least the next month, if not longer. “With a guy like Bob, of course, there’s going to be some dropoff,” defensive end Dwight Freeney said. “Maybe you won’t see someone make that spectacular play, but you’ve still got to make plays. When one guy goes down, another guy has to step up, and there have to be 11 guys swarming to the ball.”

SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Colts at Home.

The Jaguars were thought of as serious Super Bowl contenders but if they lose on Sunday they would start the season at 0-3 and that kind of start usually dooms any team’s Super Bowl hopes.  Only three teams since 1990 have started the season at 0-3 and still made the playoffs. The Jaguars have all kinds of problems on the offensive line and have been unable to move the ball consistently. “Is it perfect right now? No,” Jaguars right tackle Tony Pashos said. “But the effort’s there and we’re going to get it right.”

The Colts have owned the Jaguars recently, winning six of the last seven meetings between the two teams including both games last year. Here are more NFL betting stats for Sunday’s game. The Jaguars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Jaguars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the AFC. The Jaguars are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in September. The road team is 5-2-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings between the two teams.

SBG Global Current Line: Colts -  5   ,  Total  41.5

The Colts are 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 games in September. The Colts are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 vs. the AFC South. The Colts are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.

The Over is 7-1-1 in the Jaguars last 9 road games. The Under is 6-1 in the Jaguars last 7 games in September. The Over is 10-2-2 in the Jaguars last 14 games overall. The Over is 7-2-2 in the Jaguars last 11 vs. the AFC. The Under is 9-3 in the Colts last 12 games in September.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Washington Redskins NFLX Pick

NFL Preseason Betting Preview
Jacksonville Jaguars at Washington Redskins
Thursday, 7:00 pm Eastern – NBC

SBG Global Opening Line: Redskins  -  3  ,  Total  35

A little bit of revenge could be on tap when the Washington Redskins host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night in the final preseason game for both teams.  Jacksonville defensive coordinator Greg Williams was expected to get the head coaching job at Washington when Joe Gibbs retired but he was bypassed for the job and Jim Zorn was hired.  Williams could have some strong feelings and his Jacksonville defense could want to prove a point in this game.
SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking Jaguars on the Road.

Williams replaced former Jaguars’ defensive coordinator Mike Smith who took the head coaching job in Atlanta.  Jacksonville’s defense has looked strong under Williams in the preseason but they are still missing first round draft pick Derrick Harvey who is holding out.  The Jaguars are also missing wide receiver Jerry Porter who has been out with a hamstring injury. Washington will be without defensive end Jason Taylor who was injured last week against Carolina.  Free safety LaRon Landry is also questionable.

Last week in the preseason, the Redskins were humiliated by the Carolina Panthers 47-3.  Quarterback Jason Campbell was sacked four times in the loss.  It was the Redskins worst loss in the preseason since the 1970 merger.

The Jaguars defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week in preseason action as quarterback David Garrard was 10-16 for 118 yards with two touchdowns.

SBG Global Current Line: Redskins  -  3  ,  Total  34

Normally in the final preseason game the starters don’t play long, if at all, but in the case of Washington they may play longer than normal simply for the fact they played so poorly a week ago. “That’s something I’m going to discuss,” head coach Jim Zorn said. “I’m open to it. I may have to do that just based on what we did [against Carolina]. It’s not a matter of throwing them back out on the field, or putting on pads and scrimmaging for two hours. It’s a matter of developing a drive and getting back some tempo before the regular season. A 10-day layoff without getting them out there for a drive [against Jacksonville] may not be the right thing.”

The NFL betting teams have met twice in their history in the preseason as the Jaguars have won both meetings including a 31-14 win last year. The Redskins have played the Jaguars four times in the regular season and lead the series 3-1.
