The sports world is always giving me great material to rant about it and it looks like they have done it again. In MLB Randy Johnson notched his 300th win and Big Papi is going to lens crafters. In the NFL, Vince Young talks about playing with another team and in the golf world the Golden bear played with a Tiger. 300 is Special: Thursday Randy Johnson beat the Washington Nationals and became the 24th person in MLB to win 300 games. This will be the last time for years to come that this will happen. The game has changed so much and the pitchers do not go as deep in the game as they used to. This accolade should get more credit and hitting 300 wins just guaranteed that Randy Johnson will be going to the Hall of Fame. There will not be another pitcher that will reach this milestone in our lifetime. Papi goes to lens crafters: It was reported on Friday that Boston’s ex-slugger David Ortiz is going to get his eyes checked out even though he thinks it has nothing to do with his slump. “I’ve been thinking about getting my eyes checked,” he said. “My vision has always been 20-20, and I’m not feeling anything crazy, but I’m going to get it checked out.” He’s right about one thing; it has nothing to do with his eyes. It’s the juice hangover. If he would just bat 8th hit .230 until the end of the year and fade away he would be much happier. Instead he is in denial and makes every excuse in the world why he is playing so badly. Turn out the lights the parties over. Young wants out? Vince Young this week had an interview with a Baltimore radio station this week and he was quoted as saying he could play somewhere else. “If them guys don’t want me to be in there, it’s time for me to make a career change.” The Titans would be crazy to trade this guy right now. What they should do is get him in on “slash plays” and utilize him in a Wildcat formation that other teams have adapted. This way he gets to play and can become a weapon that can be on the field at the same time with Collins if need be. This will either get him ready to play QB or raise his stock for trading purposes. Look for him at other positions this year but I doubt that will shut him up.
Golf hits perfect shot: Earlier this week before the memorial tournament there was a skins game played you may heard about. The headliners of this skins game was Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. This was a thrill to watch. There were great shots, smack talking, and it went down to the wire. Golf has to do more of this type of event. It was fun for the players and the fans and it brought back some interest to the game. Golf hit a perfect shot with this one as it brought old generations of fans with new ones to truly appreciate the game!

ALCS Game 2 Betting Preview The outcome of the American League Championship Series could be decided by the pitching of Josh Beckett. If he pitches like he did last year then the Red Sox may end up in the World Series again. If he pitches like he has down the stretch then anything is possible. Beckett pitched well against Tampa this season, going 2-1 with a 2.06 ERA against them. He is 1-2 at Tropicana Field this season with an ERA of 1.93. ALCS Game 1 Betting Preview Two teams that know each other very well meet in the American League Championship Series. Boston and Tampa Bay met 18 times this season and the Rays won 10 while the Red Sox won 8. Game 1 of the ALCS is on Friday and matches Boston’s Daisuke Matsuzaka against Tampa Bay’s James Shields. Dice K won 18 games this season for Boston and was excellent on the road, going 9-0 with a 2.37 ERA in 13 starts. He did not pitch that well at Anaheim in his last start though in the ALDS as he gave up eight hits and three runs in just five innings. He has pitched eight times in his career against the Rays and is 2-3 with a 2.75 ERA. He is 1-2 with a 3.41 ERA at Tropicana Field. James Shields gets the Game 1 start again for Tampa Bay. He started in Game 1 of the ALDS against the White Sox and was fairly solid. He gave up a three-run home run in the game and left with the bases loaded in the 7th inning but picked up the win. ALDS Betting Preview SBG Global Opening Line: Angels – 134 , Total 8 Flat The Anaheim Angels may have had the best record in the Major Leagues this season but if they don’t win Game 2 on Friday night they could be headed for an early exit in this year’s playoffs. The Angels lost the opener of this best of five series 4-1 on Wednesday and now must beat Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Red Sox on Friday or face the unpleasant prospect of having to win three straight against the World Champs. SBG Global reports that early MLB betting has the public taking Rays at Home. Matsuzaka was simply brilliant on the road this season going 9-0 with a 2.37 ERA. He did not pitch well in his only start of the season against the Angels at Fenway when he gave up seven hits and six runs. He will be opposed by Ervin Santana who was an All-Star this season. Santana though, has not pitched well in his career against Boston, going 1-2 with a 5.73 ERA against the Red Sox in four career starts. He did not face them this season. MLB Betting Preview Two of the top teams in the American League complete their series on Sunday as the Los Angeles Angels host the Boston Red Sox. This matchup could be a preview of the American League Championship Series if both teams continue on their present course. The Angels lead the American League West while the Red Sox began the weekend in first place in the American League East. Tim Wakefield gets the start on Sunday for Boston while Joe Saunders goes for the Angels. Wakefield is 6-6 on the season with a 3.60 ERA while Saunders is 12-5 with a 3.07 ERA. Check out the current line for this game at SBG Global. Wakefield has pitched well all year for Boston but rarely has gotten much support. He allowed just two hits and one run in his last start against the Orioles. Wakefield is 5-6 in his career at Los Angeles. Saunders has been superb all season for the Angels. He pitched a complete game in his last start against Texas, allowing three runs on six hits in eight innings while striking out five. Boston will probably make deals in the coming weeks to improve their roster as they try and defend their World Series title. Getting designated hitter David Ortiz back should also help. He is on a rehab assignment and could join the team shortly. General manager Theo Epstein is also looking at adding another hitter and possibly another pitcher. The Red Sox also believe they have yet to play their best baseball. “I don’t believe this team has hit a really good stride yet,” catcher Jason Varitek said. “We’ve had to mix and put a lot of pieces together. We do miss the big man in our lineup.” MLB betting at SBG Global.
Boston Red Sox at Los Angeles Angels
Sunday, 6:00 pm Eastern – ESPN
The Angels also may make a move or two in the next few weeks to improve their roster although they are less likely than Boston to make big moves. The Angeles have a very solid pitching staff. The Angels’ starting rotation leads the Major Leagues in wins. With Ervin Santana, Saunders, Jon Garland, John Lackey and Jered Weaver, the Angels have great depth and with closer Francisco Rodriguez and setup man Scot Shields the Angels have an excellent bullpen.

The red-hot Minnesota Twins hope to continue their success as they head out on the road Monday for the start of a seven game road trip to face the Boston Red Sox. The Twins went 7-2 on their homestand and moved within a game of the White Sox in the American League Central. “We’ve got a good attitude on the bench. Boston returns home after a very disappointing 3-7 road trip. The poor trip now has the Red Sox five games behind Tampa Bay in the American League East. Boston will be happy to be home where they are 31-10 this season. They have not played well against Minnesota though. The Red Sox lost three of four at Minnesota in May. MLB Betting Preview SBG Global Opening Line: Rays -135 , Total 9 Under -120 The Tampa Bay Rays begin the second half of the season in first place in the American League East. To stay there they will have to beat the second place Boston Red Sox as the teams open up a three game series at Tropicana Field. The last time that Tampa pitcher James Shields faced the Red Sox he was involved in a brawl in Boston after hitting Coco Crisp with a pitch. Eight players were suspended due to the brawl and neither team has forgotten. Crisp is suspended and will not play in tonight’s game. This series has been dominated by the home team this season with the Red Sox winning all six of their home games and the Rays winning all three of their home games back in April. SBG Global reports that early MLB betting has the public taking Red Sox on the Road. The Rays have the best record in their history at the half way mark. They just completed a 5-1 road trip. Shields will try and get over the .500 mark for them tonight. His ERA is nice at 3.76 but he is only 5-5 on the season. He had one great outing against Boston this season shutting them out in April but then allowed 10 runs in a May loss. He is 1-4 with a 5.66 ERA in seven starts against them in his career. SBG Global Current Line: Rays -148 , Total 9 Under -125
