Week 10 NFL Betting: Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals

Seattle Seahawks
(4-4, 4-4 ATS)

Arizona Cardinals
(3-5, 3-5 ATS)

A few weeks ago, the Seattle Seahawks used home field advantage to the fullest, knocking off the Arizona Cardinals to claim the lead in the NFC West. The roles are reversed this week, as the Redbirds can get back on top if they can beat the NFL odds and win this crucial divisional tussle on Sunday afternoon.

The Seahawks are going to be thrilled to have back QB Matt Hasselbeck after backup QB Charlie Whitehurst mucked it up all week last week against the New York Giants. However, Seattle has a major psyche issue to deal with right now, as it has been beaten by the aggregate score of 74-10, and now it has to go play against a team it just recently blew out, on the road, in one of the roughest venues to go play football. Defensively, the numbers are getting disgusting for the Seahawks, as they are allowing 383.1 yards per game this year and rank No. 27 in the league in that category. It is all being parlayed into just 22.6 points per game, also only good enough for No. 21. Offensively, this is the third worst team on football, as Seattle ranks No. 29 in both rushing and passing and comes in just No. 30 overall at 261.4 yards per game. A scoring average of 16.2 points per game would be made significantly worse if not for the fact that the RB Leon Washington, arguably the team’s MVP at the halfway point of the season, has accounted for a pair of TDs.

However, if you want to talk about false advertising in scoring numbers, check out the Cardinals! They are scoring a respectable 19.6 points per game this year, good enough to be No. 20 in the league. However, the defense has five TDs, and RB LaRod Stephens-Howling has a pair of kick returns for TDs. If not for the fact that WR Larry Fitzgerald had four TDs on the season, the combination of Stephens-Howling and DB Kerry Rhodes would have the team lead in scoring! It’s safe to say that the offense isn’t scaring anyone at this point, though QB Derek Anderson clearly gives the team a better chance to win games than QB Max Hall. Anderson will get the nod for his sixth start of the year on Sunday, as he has thrown for 1,159 yards and five scores against seven picks on the season. The only thing bailing out Arizona this year is the fact that its defense is amazing at forcing turnovers, as teams have coughed the pill up an average of 2.4 times per game against it.

Though we are absolutely certainly that this is going to be one of the lowest scoring and ugliest games of the day, we aren’t so sure that the visitors stand a chance. This is a huge revenge spot and is arguably the game of the season for Arizona, and we think that University of Phoenix Stadium is going to claim another foe.
