NFL Week 6 Free Picks: Miami Dolphins vs. Green Bay Packer

Miami Dolphins
(2-2, 2-2 ATS)

Green Bay Packers
(3-2, 2-3 ATS)

One of the best in the AFC takes on one of the best in the NFC at Lambeau Field in Week 6 when the Miami Dolphins try to take down the Green Bay Packers.

The Dolphins are in a precarious spot here, as they are coming off of two straight losses at home after two straight wins on the road to start the season. Miami is off of a bye week though, and there are few head coaches in the game that know how to get their team into the win column in a big spot like HC Tony Sparano. You just know that RB Ricky Williams and RB Ronnie Brown are going to be running right at a very aggressive defense, and though it might ultimately end up resulting in a lot of minimal gains and losses, the opportunity is going to be there to pick up some massive gains as well. QB Chad Henne isn’t going to have to do much, but he loves throwing to his new top target, WR Brandon Marshall. The former UCF Knights standout already has 340 yards in his first season back in the state of Florida, and he is clearly adding a new dimension to this offense that didn’t exist before. The defense was putrid in two home games, but in the roadies, Miami held both the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings to ten points apiece.

The Packers have some major injury woes right now. QB Aaron Rodgers is the healthiest of the wounded, which isn’t good for a man that is still not totally sure that he is playing on Sunday. Rodgers suffered a concussion on the final offensive play of the game against the Washington Redskins last week. He is back and practicing, but he is still ultimately going to be a game time decision. With RB Ryan Grant out of the lineup already for the whole season, this was a loss that could not be sustained. TE Jermichael Finley, the team’s best receiving option also suffered a knee injury and will be out for the next few weeks. The biggest loss might be that of LB Clay Matthews, who leads the NFL in sacks with 8.5 in just five games. Matthews suffered a hamstring injury last week and is currently listed as doubtful. Needless to say, trying to keep up with a scoring average of 23.8 points per game for and 17.8 points per game against, both of which are good enough for No. 8 in the NFL, is going to be a difficult task.

We love the Packers this year, but their injury list is longer than that of any other team in the NFL. Especially against a physical team like Miami, this is going to be incredibly difficult. Go with the visitors and take the points given to you.
