Garrett Proves to Be a Gamer: Interim HC Jason Garrett is probably well on his way to getting the “interim” tag removed from his title. The Dallas Cowboys, who had won just one game in the first half of the season, came out and knocked off one of the hottest teams in the NFL, the New York Giants 33-20 in a game that was never really all that close. Dallas is still four games out with seven to play, but crazier things have happened before. The Cowboys play host to the Detroit Lions next weekend and could hit their stride coming into the annual Thanksgiving Day tussle.

Vick Outshines McNabb on Monday Night: The Washington Redskins were really in a do or die situation on Monday Night Football. They put all of their eggs into the basket of QB Donovan McNabb, signing him to a tremendous five year deal that will keep him in our nation’s capitol for the rest of his career in all likelihood. That night, Washington was supposed to be taking care of the Philadelphia Eagles for the second time this season, which would have really put it right back into the playoff picture in the NFC. Instead, it was QB Michael Vick that stole the spotlight. The MVP lights were starting to shine of Vick before Monday night, but after accounting for well over 400 yards of offense and six TDs in a 59-28 romp, you can bet that the former Atlanta Falcons superstar is well on his way to developing his own identity as a hero in the City of Brotherly Love.

’08 Lions Pop the Cork: The 2008 Detroit Lions were the only team in NFL history to go 0-16 for a season. The 2010 Detroit Lions were responsible for giving the first win of the season to the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo tried its best to blow this game, allowing WR Calvin Johnson to catch a TD pass in the dying moments on Sunday, but stuffing up a two point conversion play sent the crowd in Orchard Park into a frenzy, as the Bills nailed down their first win of the season. They still are tied for the worst record in the NFL though, and have a long way to go if they want to avoid having a Top 5 pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

Heartbreak Hotel for Texans: Never before did we think that the name DB Glover Quin would grace the pages of our NFL Recap, but he found a way to get the job done this weekend… by not doing his job… Quin was abused all day by the wide receivers of the Jacksonville Jaguars, as he had to log 13 tackles on the day for his Houston Texans. However, it wasn’t all that fault of Quin that Houston dropped to the Jags 31-24 to fall into the gutter in the AFC South. The Texans had the ball on the Jacksonville side of the field with just seconds remaining on the clock, but fumbled with 0:08 left to give the Jaguars a chance. A short pass to the sidelines put QB David Garrard into a position to work some magic, but it was a five yard offside penalty that moved the ball up to midfield. Rather than letting K Josh Scobee, who had already missed two kicks on the day, try one from 67 yards out, Garrard let loose and chucked the ball as far as he could. Quin, the last man in the end zone, did everything he could to bat the ball down, but it was batted right into the hands of WR Mike Thomas, who bobbled it, held on, and walked into the end zone for the miraculous game winning score.

Rex Wins Rumble of the Ryan’s: Watching New York Jets HC Rex Ryan put on the blonde locks in an interview and imitate his twin brother, Cleveland Browns DC Rob Ryan was hilarious. Seeing the two do battle on Sunday afternoon was classic. QB Mark Sanchez definitely earned his stripes in the middle of his second season as the starting quarterback for the Jets, as he did a fantastic job stepping up out of trouble and finding ways to make plays. This was the second week this year in which we were wondering if we were going to be subjected to a tie, but thanks to some shoddy clock management by the Browns and a 37 yard heave from Sanchez to WR Santonio Holmes, New York was able to escape with a 26-20 win in OT at the Dawg Pound.

All ‘Over’ the Totals: Once again, we have had another week in the NFL in which ‘over’ was the word. There were 11 ‘over’ games this week, including all of the games played at 4:00 ET and the primetime duels on Thursday, Saturday, and Monday. The Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills posted the lowest scoring day of the week by a country mile, as they only combined for 26 points. Every other game reached at least 30, including the whopping 87 points, a season high, that the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins accounted for. This was the second highest scoring week of the season on average at 51.9 points per game, and was the second time this year that the average NFL score line reached the 50s.

Top Passers: Fantasy football players love the fact that KC’s Matt Cassel threw for 469 yards and four TDs, though all of them really came in garbage time against the Broncos over the weekend. This week set a record for the season for most QBs with 300+ yard passing games, as 13 men in total got there, while four more threw for at least 290 yards. The other 300+ yard passers in Week 10 included Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger (387), New York’s Eli Manning (373), San Francisco’s Troy Smith (356), New England’s Tom Brady (350), Jacksonville’s David Garrard (342), Philadelphia’s Michael Vick (333), Seattle’s Matt Hasselbeck (333), Dallas’ Jon Kitna (327) (who did it on just 13 completions!), Detroit’s Shaun Hill (323), Arizona’s Derek Anderson (322), Atlanta’s Matt Ryan (316), and Houston’s Matt Schaub (314)

Running All Over the Competition: A ton of men made it on the list of 100+ yard rushers for the first time this week, including one for the first time in his career. Carolina’s Mike Goodson had exactly 100 yards for his first time hitting the century mark, but unfortunately for him, he was the only star that shined in an otherwise dismal week for the Panthers. Other 100+ yard rushers include Buffalo’s Fred Jackson (133), Tennessee’s Chris Johnson (117), Philadelphia newcomer Jerome Harrison (109), Denver’s Knowshon Moreno (106), and Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew (100)

Receiving the Top Prizes: With all of the 300+ yard passers, it’s a little surprising that there are only nine men that had at least 100 receiving yards. We’ve already talked about what a star Mike Thomas was for the Jags in his 149 yard day, and we have already discussed how Cassel hooked up with Dwayne Bowe a ton in garbage time, as Bowe had 13 grabs for 186 yards and two TDs. Other 100+ yard receivers this week include Houston’s Andre Johnson (146), Seattle’s Mike Williams (145), Atlanta’s Roddy White (138), Pittsburgh’s Mike Wallace (136), Detroit’s Calvin Johnson (128), and Dallas’ Dez Bryant (104). In spite of the fact that he was catching passes from three different QBs, Miami’s Anthony Fasano was the top tight end on the weekend, catching five passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
