The Celtics got the win without one of their key playmakers Kevin Garnett. Garnett has been battling a sickness, but will likely get to play when the Celtics take the court on Thursday. Paul Pierce is leading the team in scoring this season with 19 points per game and is averaging 33 points in his last two outings. Outside of Cleveland’s ludicrous 23-0 home record, the Celtics sport the 2nd best home record of 24-2 in the NBA. Boston will be looking to extend their winning streak and superb home record while seeking a little revenge when they host the Lakers on Thursday.

Los Angeles rolls into the game with the best scoring offense in the league averaging a strong 108 points per game. Kobe Bryant ranks 3rd in the NBA in scoring averaging 27 points per game. Bryant is coming off his biggest night of the season breaking a Madison Square Garden record when he dropped an amazing 61 points against the New York Knicks. Pau Gasol also had a big night with Kobe’s big performance aiding the cause with 31 points. Among all the scoring highlights, center Andrew Bynum went down with a tore MCL and will miss around 3 months of play. The Lakers will look to compensate for the loss of the starting center while attempting to take down the Celtics for the 2nd time this season on Thursday.

What to watch for…
In the last meeting, Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant combined for over half of the Lakers 93 points in their win over the Celtics. These two players will have to play big again with the loss of Bynum and their success will likely determine the Lakers’ success. Also, in the last meeting the Celtics turned the ball over nearly 20 times that aided the losing cause. Expect fewer turnovers and possibly a higher scoring game this time around.
