Denver Broncos vs. Tennessee Titans: NFL Free Picks

Denver Broncos
(1-2, 1-2 ATS)

Tennessee Titans
(2-1, 2-1 ATS)

LP Field will be the site for a Sunday afternoon NFL betting battle between the Tennessee Titans and the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos have a very interesting situation this week. They’re going against a secondary that is overrated due to the nature of a very soft schedule, and HC Josh McDaniels is one of the best in the biz at trying to design an offensive scheme to take care of a weakness in a defense. QB Kyle Orton is leading the top passing attack in the NFL at 350.0 yards per game. He has already thrown for a whopping 1,078 yards and four TDs. He already has four 100+ yard receivers this year in Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney, Eddie Royal, and Demaryius Thomas. Part of the problem has been the lack of a check down option. TE Daniel Graham only has seven catches this year, and no running back has really stepped up as of yet. RB Knowshon Moreno will be sidelined for the second straight week, which puts the pressure on RB Laurence Maroney, who ran for 24 yards on 12 carries in his first game with the team.

The Titans are going to try to exploit a rush defense that has been suspect at times this year with the play of RB Chris Johnson. Johnson had his 12 consecutive game streak with 100+ rushing yards snapped two weeks ago against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last week, he got it going once again against the New York Giants. Johnson had one heck of a day, running 32 times for 125 yards and a TD. QB Vince Young got back on the right foot last week after getting yanked in Week 1. He is completing 69.8 percent of his passes this year for 338 yards with three scores and two picks. He also has 48 rushing yards. There really isn’t a top receiver on this team, though WR Nate Washington has ten catches for 152 yards and two TDs. We already alluded to how overrated this secondary was. Tennessee ranks No. 5 in the NFL in pass defense at 178.3 yards per game. The Titans have only faced one legitimate passing game, though, and last week, the Giants accounted for over 350 yards.

This is a nice little matchup for Denver in Week 4. If Johnson runs down after a 32 carry game last week, the Titans could be in a heck of a lot of trouble. The Broncos have won back to back in this series dating back to 2004, including posting a 37-16 win here in the Music City in 2004. Don’t be shocked if the same sort of thing ends up happening this coming Sunday. Go with the Broncos for your NFL picks on Sunday.
