The Lone Star State will be taking center stage on Saturday afternoon for college basketball betting action, as the Baylor Bears hope to get back on track against the Texas A&M Aggies at Reed Arena.
It’s really hard to think that the Bears might be on the outside of the NCAA Tournament looking in just a year after being in the Elite 8, but this is a real possibility. LaceDarius Dunn is doing his part, averaging 20.7 points per game, but he really isn’t getting all that much help from the rest of his teammates. Perry Jones III and Quincy Acy are both double digit point scorers, but Anthony Jones, AJ Walton and company just aren’t getting the job done. A scoring average of 72.0 points per game is great, but a defensive average points per game of 61.9 points allowed isn’t really indicative of what has gone on in conference, where Baylor has lost four of its last six games. The defense has only held one team under its scoring average in recent weeks, but aside from that, the squad has averaged well over 70 points per game allowed, a far cry from the average.

The Aggies have really been the most pleasant surprise this year in the Big XII, as they have jumped from absolutely nowhere in the first rankings of the season all the way up to No. 16 in the country. Just making the NCAA Tournament would have thrilled the fans at Reed Arena, but now, their sights are set on a Big XII title and perhaps a deep run into March Madness. However, of the team’s four losses this season, three have occurred in the last two and a half weeks. Of course, two of those defeats were at the hands of the Texas Longhorns, losses which are very excusable at this point, but there is still definitely some cause for concern that A&M has only put 49 and 48 points up on the board in its last two games overall. When you look at the offensive figures for the Aggies, you don’t see a ton of stars that scare you. After all, Khris Middleton is the only player on the squad that is averaging more than 11 points per game this year, and he is only averaging 14.8 points per game. David Loubeau is the only other double digit point scorer at 10.6 points per game, but the rest of this team really isn’t supposed to be scoring points, just playing fantastic defense.
Don’t be overly shocked if this one gets a bit ugly. The Aggies have got to get back on track eventually, and they are the team that is more likely to do the damage with some stellar defense and a home field advantage on Saturday. Reed Arena should be rockin’.

Eden Prairie creating habitat for technology; City’s leaders hoping to expand high-tech niche.(BUSINESS)
Star Tribune (Minneapolis, MN) March 2, 2001 | Cruz, Sherri Eden Prairie’s business, civic and education leaders want their city to be a habitat for technology.
So they brought William Cadogan, their brightest light, to Eden Prairie High School on Thursday to kick off Habitat for Technology, a grass roots effort created to grow the city’s high-tech community. Cadogan, the recently retired chairman of ADC Telecommunications, is a member of the Habitat for Technology’s board of directors. Since departing ADC, where he was credited with sparking the company’s rapid growth, Cadogan also has signed on as a general partner with St. Paul Venture Capital.
“I personally have a lot of energy for this,” Cadogan said of his work with Habitat.
The group is a collaboration of Eden Prairie high-tech businesses, Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce, Eden Prairie School District 272 and Hennepin Technical College.
Through good planning, good fortune or both, Eden Prairie has become a high-tech juggernaut. Cadogan said the group’s strategy is to build on the city’s assets to make Eden Prairie a more desirable place to live and work. site hennepin technical college
He told an assembly of about 50 community representatives that the group’s objectives include creating more high-tech internship opportunities for students as well as job shadowing and training for teachers. It also plans to recruit more high-tech businesses to the city and create broader access to its services.
In addition to Cadogan, others involved in Habitat for Technology include Bill Gaslin, Eden Prairie Schools superintendent; Sharon Grossback, president of Hennepin Technical College; Phil Soran, CEO of Xiotech; Mac Lewis, managing partner of Sherpa Partners; and Joe Stoebner, chairman and CEO of AVI Systems and the chamber’s chairman-elect for 2002.
A key component of Habitat for Technology is creating internships for students at Hennepin Technical College and Eden Prairie High School.
Tyler Stafford, a high school junior who spoke at the meeting, is an example of the talent Habitat wants to nurture. Stafford works as an unpaid intern three hours a day, five days a week at AVI Systems integrating customer information into a Palm Pilot. When he graduates from college, he wants to be an information technology manager.
“I am a great example of taking technology to the next level,” he said. “My technical skills have increased, but more importantly my gifts to society have also been increased.” Grossback said internships in the high-tech sector would benefit Hennepin Technical College students because they would have access to new technical equipment that the school can’t afford. She said she also hopes to increase the amount of on-site customized training it does with businesses. this web site hennepin technical college
The chamber of commerce will administer the Habitat objectives, and business memberships to the group will be an add-on to chamber memberships. Habitat operates on a shoestring budget of $50,000 but Cadogan expects that amount to grow to $200,000 over the next year. The group will have one full-time employee by April 1.
