Basketball Betting: Utah Jazz vs. Orlando Magic Pick

Utah Jazz
(4-3, 3-4 ATS)

Orlando Magic
(5-1, 2-4 ATS)

The Orlando Magic have yet to lose a game at their brand new Amway Center, but that could be challenged with an NBA betting affair against the Utah Jazz.

The Jazz are coming off of their biggest win of the season, a shocking 116-114 ‘W’ on the road against the team that many think is the best in the NBA, the Miami Heat. F Paul Millsap went off for a career high 46 points on the night, as Utah withstood the triple-double of F LeBron James. Millsap is now averaging a whopping 24.0 points and 10.9 rebounds this year, and he is shooting 62.5 percent from the floor. Utah might have its own version of a trio of stars to work with if Millsap can keep this up. G Deron Williams is already known as a bona fide superstar, as he is averaging 20.3 points and 9.8 assists per game this year, while C Al Jefferson is well on his way to become one of the best big men in the Western Conference. Jefferson was tucked away last year with the Minnesota Timberwolves and largely went unnoticed, but once he improves his 42.4 shooting percentage, the big man might be able to really explode. He is already averaging 16.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this year and should be able to threaten the 20 and 10 mark every single night.

Orlando has been at home resting for this one since beating the Atlanta Hawks for its fourth ‘W’ of the season in Mickie Mouse’s new house on Sunday. The Magic have now won four straight games, but they have only covered one set of NBA odds in that run, a 128-86 thumping of the T’Wolves back on November 3rd. C Dwight Howard is still doing it all for the Magic, as he is averaging 23.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game to go with a total of 16 blocks, but he is going to need some help from his teammates, particularly on the outside. With G Jameer Nelson not likely to play on Wednesday for the third straight game, Orlando is going to be turning to G JJ Redick and G Chris Duhon for more minutes. The problem is that there really isn’t a legitimate point guard, per se on the floor. G Vince Carter is averaging 15.0 points per game this year. F Rashard Lewis is definitely behind on his pace right now at 10.7 points per game.

We can’t ignore the fact that Utah is just 3-10-1 ATS in the L/14 games in this series. Though we don’t have a number to work with as of this morning, we know that the second leg of the back to back in Miami and Orlando is usually hellacious on a team, and unless the Magic are laying an absurd number above seven or so, we have to roll with them on Wednesday night.
