Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Yankees and Mets continue their Big Apple series at Yankee Stadium, while the Netherlands takes on Japan in World Cup action.

The World Cup schedule for Saturday offers up the Netherlands vs. Japan, Ghana vs. Australia, and Cameroon vs. Denmark. The Dutch are the big favorites for Saturday, as they’re pegged at -275 against the Japanese (+800), with draw odds of +325. Netherlands beat Denmark 2-0 in their first game, and Japan got past Cameroon 1-0. Denmark is the slight +145 favorite against Cameroon (+175) on Saturday, with draw odds of +220, while Ghana is favored at -110 over Australia (+300), with those draw odds at +225. Australia fell 4-0 to Germany last game, while Ghana edged Serbia 1-0.

It’ll be Ben Sheets (2-6, 4.93 ERA) vs. Adam Wainwright (9-2, 2.41 ERA) as the Cardinals play host to the Athletics in MLB interleague action on Saturday. Righthander Sheets has dropped three straight decisions to the Giants, Angels, and Red Sox, giving up a combined 10 earned runs on 21 hits over his 18 innings of work. Sheets last earned a victory back on May 8 against Tampa Bay. Righthander Wainwright beat the Mariners in his last trip to the mound, giving up three runs on six hits over his seven innings of work. Wainwright’s WHIP is down to 1.02 on the season.

Also on the diamond on Saturday: Milwaukee at Colorado, the Angels at the Cubs, San Francisco at Toronto, the Dodgers at Boston, Minnesota at Philadelphia, the White Sox at Washington, Cleveland at Pittsburgh, Texas at Houston, Arizona at Detroit, Kansas City at Atlanta, Tampa Bay at Florida, Baltimore at San Diego, Cincinnati at Seattle, and the Mets at the Yankees. Mike Pelfrey (9-1, 2.39 ERA) is slated to get the ball for the Mets on Saturday, with Phil Hughes (9-1, 3.11 ERA) taking the mound for the Yankees. Righthander Pelfrey beat the Yankees in his May 22 outing, allowing just one run on six hits over his six innings of work in that contest. Righthander Hughes was Pelfrey’s opponent on May 22, allowing four runs over 5 2-3 innings in that defeat

As well, there are three WNBA games on tap for Saturday, with Atlanta at Indiana, Minnesota at Tulsa, and Chicago at Washington. The Sky (4-7 straight-up, 5-6 against-the-spread) fell 93-86 to Atlanta last game, with Jia Perkins pouring in a team-high 25 points for Chicago. The Mystics (6-4 SU, 7-2-1 ATS) beat New York 82-65 last time out, with Monique Curry scoring 20 points in the home win. The Sky and Mystics met in Chicago last Friday night, with Washington pulling out a 95-78 road win on that day.
