NFL Football Betting Preview Betus.com betting line – Eagles -3, 45 O/U Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler threw an embarrassing 5 total interceptions last week as the Bears fell to the San Francisco 49ers just 10-6. The horrific offensive performance was all too familiar for the Chicago faithful who just can’t seem to shake quarterback troubles even with Cutler behind center. The Bears have now dropped 4 of their last 5 games and will be in dangerous water again this Sunday night when they host the 5-4 Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia is coming off two straight losses with the most recent defeat coming by way of the San Diego Chargers 31-23 last week. QB Donovan McNabb put up some of the biggest passing numbers of his career throwing 450 yards, but it still was not enough for the Eagles offense. However, one team’s struggles will have to turn around at least for one week when the two meet up this Sunday night at Soldier Field. The Bears offense has been flat horrible during their recent stretch of losses. Chicago is averaging just 13 points per game in those 4 games and desperately need to get back on track. The coincidence is that Cutlers has actually thrown for more yards during that 5 game stretch reaching the 300 yard plateau in 3 of those 5 games. However, the turnovers have told the story as 11 of Cutler’s 17 picks this year have come in those last 4 losses. If the Bears are going to get back in the winning column, the turnover must cease. Running back Matt Forte has only produced 74 yards in the last two games as the rushing attack has back pedaled. However, wide receivers Devin Hester and Earl Bennett are progressing into solid players at the receiver position. Hester has right at 600 yards on the season and gives the offense the big play threat the Bears need, but Cutler and Hester need to actually hook up more often for those big plays to shake off this disappointing stretch of football. The Eagles struggles have mainly been on the ground in terms of the offense. Brian Westbrook has suffered a few concussions and his career maybe in jeopardy. Rookie LeSean McCoy is still not where he needs to be for the Eagles to rely on the ground. As a result, McNabb is carrying the weight of the offense on his arm. McNabb is completing 60% on the season with 12 touchdowns and just 4 picks. McNabb missed a few games with injured ribs making the 1,685 yards seem lower than it actually is. WR DeSean Jackson remains the big play threat averaging over 18 yards per catch. Jackson has posted over 621 yards on the year, but some of the other less known names are starting to play bigger roles out of the receiving core. Jason Avant racked up 156 yards to lead the Eagles last week and rookie Jeremy Maclin has made a few plays in recent weeks as well. If the Eagles running game continue to struggle, expect McNabb to throw the ball often this Sunday night even though it may not be 55 attempts like last week’s performance against San Diego. Betting Trends - The Eagles are 14-7 ATS in their last 21 games on the road while reaching the over total in 4 of the last 5 games on the road and reaching the over in 8 of the last 10 games overall. Chicago is just 1-4 SU in their last 5 games and also just 1-4 ATS in those 5 games as well. However, the Bears are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 meetings with the Eagles. Pick – Philadelphia -3
