The New York Yankees will try and put the finishing touches on the Wild Card race in the American League and also gain ground on the Red Sox in the AL East race on Tuesday. New York has all but clinched the Wild Card and still has hopes of catching Boston in the East as they are two games back. Roger Clemens is expected to get the start on Tuesday for Boston against Tampa Bay. The Yankees are looking to get Clemens one more start before the playoffs and it is expected to come on Tuesday. "Roger is totally different," said Andy Pettitte. "We just need to make sure he's as healthy as he can be going into the playoffs. The good thing is that I don't feel like we're in desperate need, where we need to rush him out there."
SBG Global reports that early betting has the public taking the favored Yankees on the Road.
The Yankees lost on Monday against Toronto but have won 14 of 18 overall. Clemens is 6-6 on the season with an ERA of 4.18. He last started on September 16th allowing a run on two hits over six innings. If Clemens does not go in this game then it is likely Matt DeSalvo or Kei Igawa will get the call.
Jason Hammel gets the start for Tampa Bay. He is 2-5 with a 5.88 ERA. Hammels held the Angels to two runs and seven hits over six innings but lost 2-1 in his last start.
Here are the betting statistics for Tuesday’s game. The Yankees are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. the American League East. The Yankees are 6-1 in their last 7 games as a road favorite. The Yankees are 19-7 in their last 26 Tuesday games. The Yankees are 21-8 in their last 29 road games vs. a right-handed starter. The Yankees are 2-6 in Clemens' last 8 starts as a road favorite. The Yankees are 7-3 in Clemens' last 10 starts vs. the Devil Rays.
