MLB World Series Betting begins on Wednesday night with the surprising Colorado Rockies taking on the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox are heavy favorites to win the World Series despite the fact that Colorado has won 21 of their last 22 games. "It's being billed as a David and Goliath situation. But that's OK," Colorado reliever Matt Herges said. "We're as confident as anybody, we're as hot as anybody. We think we're as good as anybody." SBG Global reports that early MLB betting has the public taking the Red Sox at home.

The Rockies have had over a week off since sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLCS while Boston just took out Cleveland in Game #7 of the ALCS over the weekend. The layoff could be a problem for the Rockies. The same thing happened to Detroit last year when they had a long layoff before playing the Cardinals. Experience could also be a factor as the Rockies have only one player that has appeared in the World Series. Willie Taveras played for Houston in 2005. Seven current Red Sox players were on the 2004 team that won it all so the experience edge goes to Boston. Boston has the home field advantage for the World Series with the first two games in Boston the next three in Colorado and the last two in Boston. The Red Sox have won 9 of their last 11 playoff games at home.
The Red Sox go with playoff ace Josh Beckett in Game #1 who is 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA this postseason while Colorado sends Jeff Francis who is 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA. Beckett has given up more than two runs only once in 8 postseason starts.

Here are the MLB betting stats for Wednesday’s game. The Rockies are 4-0 in their last 4 playoff road games. The Rockies are 11-1 in their last 12 games as a road underdog. The Rockies are 9-2 in Francis' last 11 starts as a road underdog. The Rockies are 37-16 in Francis' last 53 starts.
