San Francisco Giants at Atlanta Braves

An excellent pitching matchup is on tap Thursday night in Atlanta as the Braves host the San Francisco Giants. Chuck James goes for Atlanta while San Francisco sends Tim Lincecum. James comes into the game at 9-8 with an ERA of 3.93 while Lincecum is 6-3 and has an ERA of 3.88. SBG Global reports that early betting has the public taking the Giants on the road with a comeback of +115.
Lincecum had a rare bad outing in his last start against Pittsburgh. He gave up five runs in the fourth inning. It was Lincecum's first loss since June 19 and the first time he hasn't had a quality outing in the past nine starts.
James had a similar outing against Philadelphia. He gave up four runs in the first inning then went five perfect innings. He has given up four runs in each of his past three starts. His last loss came on July 25, when he gave up two earned runs to the Giants in six innings.
One of the better pitchers this year for the Braves has been Tim Hudson who is in the running for the National League Cy Young Award. "He's been on [a roll] all year," said Braves manager Bobby Cox. Heading into Wednesday night’s game Hudson was 7-0 with a 2.26 ERA and seen opponents hit just .259 against him. He joins Brad Penny and Chris Young as the only Major Leaguers who have completed at least 100 innings and surrendered just four home runs.
